Creative Beast Studio, founded by David Silva, is the maker of an unbelievably awesome line of dinosaur models/action figures called “Beasts of the Mesozoic”. The line features scientifically accurate dinosaurs that are fully articulated and poseable and have very unique and eye-catching color schemes. Various series have been released under the Beasts of the Mesozoic line, including a Raptor series, a Ceratopsian series and a Tyrannosaur series. The Beasts of the Mesozoic line was funded through overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter campaigns.

Pictured above is my mock-up of what Ezra Tucker’s original box art for the Beasts of the Mesozoic Tyrannosaurus Rex would like if it had the full assortment of weapons and armor from the original Dino-Riders line. Epic stuff!

A lifelong lover of dinosaurs and a fellow fan of Dino-Riders, David created two Dino-Riders “homages” under his Beasts of the Mesozoic line that were exclusive to their respective Kickstarter campaigns. The first was a Monoclonius released under the Ceratopsian series and the second is a yet-to-be-released Tyrannosaurus Rex under the recently launched Tyrannosaur series. The Monoclonius uses the same overall color scheme as the original Rulon Monoclonius from the vintage Dino-Riders toy line. The Tyrannosaurus Rex uses the infamous pre-production green and tan color scheme depicted on the box of the Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Dino-Riders series. Wanting to do each homage justice, David took things a step further and commissioned the one and only Ezra Tucker to paint the box art for both releases. Ezra Tucker is a well known and highly accomplished wildlife artist and was the person who Tyco had commissioned to paint the epic Series 2 battle scene from the original Dino-Riders line. Participants in the Kickstarter campaigns were also able to pledge for signed prints of Ezra’s box art, which do an incredible job of recreating the essence and overall look and feel of the original Dino-Riders box art. The boxes were also given the full Dino-Riders homage treatment.

As of this writing, the Tyrannosaurus Rex has yet to be released. I highly recommend checking out the Creative Beast Studio website and seeing more of David and his team’s amazing work and supporting his various product lines. David is incredibly talented and has an appreciation for dinosaurs and an attention to detail that seems to be lacking in the dinosaur toys that are mass produced by much larger toy companies. The Beasts of the Mesozoic Line has a huge variety of dinosaur models beyond the two Dino-Riders homages and they are a must have for any dinosaur fan.
